Photos From Along the Way: Late September 2020

A Photo Stash From Walks/Runs on the TVP x 3

Introduction:

September 2020 is coming to a close. The weather was cooler during the month - even did some running in the rain - and I quite enjoyed covering miles without heat waves bouncing off the tarmac and sapping me of energy.

I don't walk or run often with a camera but when I do I snap a few shots during water breaks or when the urge hits. Miscellaneous Snaps. Photo Stash. Zoom Lens. Whatever I call them, they reflect certain areas of London, near the Thames River usually, where I feel safest and most at home as I continue with The GREAT Canadian Comeback (i.e., the return to long distance running after a 12-year hiatus).

I could say tons (my brain's wiring is stamped 'Imperial', not 'Metric') re my walking and running routine, but I feel some of the pictures say way more than I ever could about how much enjoyment I get out of a relatively simple pleasure.

Sometimes my fitness routine is about "calories in, calories out!"

Cooler temperatures in September have a positive result (more miles)

Lots of work being done along the banks of the River Thames

Old embankments are being replaced; 'dozer under the bridge

Fall is upon us, lovely leaves litter the pathways

Oddities caught my eye at my "UWO turn-around distance marker"

During a long walk I spotted a curb-side cast-off

The price sticker says "As Is" $25.00. I got it for free : )
Note the centre disc is held in place with 3 heel clickers

TVP, South Branch, takes me east to Adelaide and beyond

Under Adelaide Street, London. The route is a special one for me...

...in 2004 I ran the Forest City Marathon to qualify for Boston 2005...

....from Adelaide St. runners headed west to Springbank Park

Someone's private beach can be seen from the Adelaide Bridge : )

Sept. 20th 12-miler was prep for the "Around the Bay 30 K" (Hamilton)
but it was officially cancelled 2 - 3 days later. And I was doing so good!

Chalk drawing of Terry Fox, as found on the TVP, Sept. 20th

Walkers are approaching the Rowing Club near Wonderland Gardens

Northward bound, toward UWO on the TVP,

This sign spoke to me on hot, muggy days in July and August

Running miles were pretty steady during the summer

40-plus miles per week = Steady Eddie Award : )

One rainy day I ran with renewed vigour. LOVED IT!!

I enjoyed a long walk in Lindsay. Excellent walking trails
replace old railway lines from a century ago

Dust and bits (hard pack) replace the iron rails of an old line

The last of the Lindsay photographs : )

Back in London on the Grand TVP

London's multi-purpose pathways have been well-used this past summer

I am pretty sure that the TVPs will get lots of customers until the cold weather arrives. Then bikes will be shelved and warm-weather walkers and runners will find new hobbies to soak up their time.

But some habitual walkers and runners (and certain old-timers) will dust off their winter boots, and warm jackets and mitts, and keep right at it.

Should I wear my black or the red spandex tights for my first winter run?

Stay tuned : )
